2010 ALSIP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Alsip Industrial Association (AIA) and Alsip Chamber of Commerce (ACC) offer a Scholarship Program to aid graduating high school students who need additional financial help for college or trade school.
The program is open to high school seniors or graduates who are Alsip residents and to employees or children of employees of Alsip companies that are members of the Alsip Chamber of Commerce or Alsip Industrial Association. This criterion must be met at the time of application and at the time of the award. Applicant should be a recent high school graduate or returning to school to obtain a college degree or a state approved license or certification.
If pursuing a college degree, students must be enrolled as full time student with 12 credit hours or more for Fall of 2010. If college plans such as major, number of hours attending or school changes between application, and enrollment, the application will be re-evaluated and award may change or be withdrawn.
If applying to an accredited trade school, the student must be enrolled in the school’s full time training program approved by the ACC and AIA, and meet all of the school’s requirements.
The applicant must show the need for financial assistance, and the desire to begin or continue post high school training at the accredited university, college, career, business or trade school.
While grades are certainly important, this program is intended to help those students whose abilities may just be average, but without further education they are not adequately prepared to support themselves or their family. High school transcripts are required for application. A letter of recommendation should accompany your application from a high school teacher, employer, or other professional.
The information about the scholarship program will be publicized in local papers and in Chamber, Industrial, and Village newsletters. The program will be distributed to the private and public high schools that serve Alsip, but other schools should contact us if they are interested.
